Reporting to the Executive Officer of Human Resources, this position will be responsible for the effective management of staffing processes and labour relations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while promoting a positive workplace culture.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
- Act as primary contact for Secondary teacher staffing and employment inquiries from teaching staff, school administration and union officials.
- Manage a variety of administrative transactions for secondary teachers including sick leave allocation, payroll authorization, leave of absences, employment contracts etc.
- Plan, forecast and coordinate all secondary teaching staff in accordance to the provisions of the collective agreement and in support of ensuring best programming for secondary students.
- Act as a key liaison between management and union officials, promoting constructive communication, and positive labour-management relationships and resolve on-going issues.
- Assist in the development and revision of policies and procedures to ensure alignment with organizational goals and legislative requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive investigations into grievances and complaints by collecting data, interviewing parties and preparing detailed reports that lead to equitable and fact-based resolutions.
- Collaborate with senior staff and school administrators to assess enrollment trends, program needs and staffing requirements to ensure optimal staffing allocation and verify that all staffing decisions are aligned with the terms and conditions outlined in the collective agreement, Ontario legislation and board policies.
- Oversee the teachable qualifications matrix to ensure qualified staffing of secondary teachers and support the effective delivery of course programming.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new teachers.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Labour Relations or a related field.
- CHRP or CHRL designation considered a strong asset.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in labour relations, staffing, or human resources.
- Proven experience conducting workplace investigations.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant employment legislation and experience with interpreting and implementing collective agreements.
- Experience with public sector employers and unionized environments.
- Strong computer skills and advanced experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills considered an asset.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
This is a full time, temporary position.
HOURS: Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
