Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic invites applications for the position of:
TEACHER - LONG TERM OCCASIONAL (LTO)
ST. JOSEPH-SCOLLARD HALL & ST. JOSEPH ADULT EDUCATION (SJAEC)
1.0 LTO (Semester 1)
The function of this position is to instruct both in the classroom and on-line supporting SJSH and adult learners to reach individual goals based on their pathway. The program is delivered in a quadmester schedule with the continuous in-take of students. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will collaborate with the SJSH Student Success Team, Mental Health Team and SJAEC team. The successful candidate requires the ability to build strong, positive relationships and welcoming learning environments that promote student engagement and well being.

Mandatory Requirements:
Basic qualifications to teach in the Intermediate and Senior Divisions
Requirements:
Qualifications in Adult Education and Special Education would be considered an asset
A repertoire of effective strategies for promoting communication and collaboration that support students' learning, resiliency, and well-being
Proven ability and willingness to work collaboratively with staff designing effective and differentiated instructional strategies and in programming for students as a means of reducing the gaps in student outcomes
A repertoire of effective instructional strategies, assessment tools, and resources to meet the needs of the adult learner
Knowledge and experience with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students with unique special education needs
Demonstrated sound knowledge and implementation of effective on-line teaching practices, utilizing student learning management systems such as D2L, Google Classroom, Google Meet as well as additional G-Suite digital tools and EDSBY
Demonstrated sound knowledge and understanding of practices that affect adult learning relationships and student engagement to build positive and welcoming learning environments
Knowledge, experience and proven ability to apply principles of differentiated instruction, and the tiered approach to design lessons that accommodate the strengths, needs, and interests of all learners
Ability to develop relationships, network with other educators and capacity to work as a contributing member of a collaborative team environment that fosters problem solving, innovation and creativity
A high degree of competence and dedication to excellence with a demonstrated knowledge of how students learn effectively
Experience preparing course materials and tasks designed for providing individual programming and assessment
Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work in a team environment
Sound knowledge and experience in utilizing technology in instruction and learning
Ability and commitment to develop networks and innovative partnerships with community partners and agencies to foster student opportunities and program promotion
Approachable style and flexibility
A high degree of initiative and independence
