Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position: S2425-45 Junior Accountant- Bonnyville Division OfficeThis is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position working from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, commencing January 2025. We are seeking a Junior Accountant working in the Finance Department to provide support to the Division by handling a variety of finance-related duties. Interested applicants must be personable and able to multitask. Duties of the Junior Accountant will include: Assist in the preparation of financial statements Perform bank reconciliations Prepare and file charity return Prepare GST return for filing Assist in the management of accounts receivable and payable Monitor department and school budgets Obtain and analyze financial dataPrepare journal entries and maintains trial balance Assist in purchase card administration and Amazon Business Support school cash administration Assist in overseeing accounting process compliance Perform other duties, as assigned Preference will be given to applicants who posses: College Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field Two to three years experience in an accounting role Experience with budget, accounting, and reporting Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles specifically in Public Sector Accounting Working knowledge of Power School (Atrieve) ERP platform and BMO Purchase Card program Effective attention to detail and high degree of accuracy Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered How to Apply: Interested applicants are required to create and complete all sections of their portfolio through the 'Apply On-Line' link on our website: https://www.nlpsab.ca/, in the career section.
