About This Opportunity

The community of Eskasoni is seeking a family physician to join their primary care team. The successful physician will join two other physicians practicing in the community. A variety of practice types are available and include collaborative practices as well as independent practice opportunities. This community has a brand-new health centre, new LTC and always looking for ways to expand health services.

Responsibilities
  • delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
  • work with other providers in the clinic to provide cross coverage and same day access
  • participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
  • utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team members
Expected Hours
  • full-time: 37.5 hours per week
  • on call requirement
  • 46 weeks per year
  • four weeks vaction
  • two weeks of continuing medical education
Qualifications
  • Eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
  • knowledge of Mi’kmaw culture and history is considered a strong asset

Eskasoni First Nation is the largest Mi’kmaw community in Nova Scotia where community members are well versed in their culture and language. It is also home to Eskasoni Goat Island home of Eskasoni Cultural Journeys known for its tourism. Eskasoni is conveniently located in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM).
