We are seeking passionate & self-directed Secondary Science Teacher to join our team and collaborate with us in the expansion of our science course offerings for secondary Learners at our beautiful location in Ladysmith, BC on central Vancouver Island.This is a casual position commencing as soon as possible for the remainder of the school year. Extension of the term to subsequent years is anticipated and will be based on performance, school needs& student enrolments.
The Opportunity
As a part of our Student Support Team, our Education Assistants:
Provide support in classrooms and other learning environments for our learners
Assist teachers in the supervision of students
Deliver programming to students as identified by individual learning plants and inclusive education strategies
Observe student behaviour to proactively support and facilitate productive learning conditions
Provide individual or group assistance to students
Support students in identifying, establishing and accompishing goals
Meet with the school-based team & external partners regarding resources and student needs
Support classroom teachers with resource preparation and lesson development
Provide personal care to students, including dressing, undressing, toileting, diapering, cleaning, washing, and lifting as needed.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 Diploma.
Education Assistant and Community Support Certificate an asset.
Experience in a similar position an asset.
Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification and First Aid is an asset.
Eligibility for clearance of a Criminal Record Check for Working with Children & Vulnerable Adults
