Maaqtusiis Elementary School in Ahousaht is looking for a Special Education Coordinator to join our team in a pristine village on the beautiful west coast of Vancouver Island. As our school moves to the next level, we are looking for enthusiastic candidates who:
· are certified to teach in BC
· have education or experience in special education
· have skills in developing instructional strategies based on strengths and needs of individual students
· are ready and able to collaborate with school teams to adapt, accommodate, and modify learning outcomes for students based on their learning needs
· has experience with IEP and SMART goal development
· believes that all students can learn to high levels
· be student and learning-focused in an action/solution oriented school
· are flexible and adaptable in meeting student’s needs
· recognize the importance of building relationships to improving learning
· are familiar with the Read Well, Corrective Reading, Reading Master & Saxon Math programs
· salary is based on SD#70 Pay grid
