Government Mail and Courier Services, Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, is looking for a reliable, experienced individual to provide mail delivery services to ministries throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

Note: This position is required to report to and work from the physical work location (20 Vanley Cr, Toronto) five days per week.

What can I expect to do in this role?You will:

• operate a delivery truck, including performing minor preventative maintenance (e.g. circle checks, oil levels)
• complete daily driver and vehicle logs
• safely operate material handling equipment, such as a forklift
• pick-up and deliver daily mail bags from Canada Post Office Stations
• use an electronic wireless, paperless hand-held tracking system to capture delivery and receipt data
• process parcels through x-ray scanning equipment

How do I qualify?Mandatory• You have a valid Ontario Class G driver's licence or equivalent and acceptable driving record
• You are able to lift boxes weighing up to 30 kilograms

Technical Knowledge• You know the provisions and regulations of the Highway Motor Vehicle Act to operate a ministry vehicle in a professional manner, monitor road and traffic conditions, speed limits and parking restrictions.
• You understand the functions of large scale mail operations and mail delivery services.
• You have experience operating material handling equipment, such as a forklift, tow-motor, stacker, and dollies.
• You know health and safety standards, such as WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations, to operate equipment and perform work safely.

Communication Skills• You have communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, respond to inquiries and resolve issues.
• You can understand and follow instructions from supervisors.

Analytical, Attention to Detail and Organizational Skills• You have good attention to detail.
• You can record data accurately.
• You have analytical skills to check items against packing and delivery slips for correct quality and quality.
• You can organize and prioritize your schedule to complete pick-ups and deliveries efficiently.
