Lead mental health initiatives and provide clinical expertise to drive culture change and support across the Ontario Provincial Police!

The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander, Healthy Workplace Team (HWT) is seeking a qualified Psychologists to join our Healthy Workplace Team. This is a rewarding role, where you will work with members of the OPP in their development and care and provide expertise and consultation services in the area of mental health, addictions and trauma.

Note: Flexibility in work schedule and location is possible as travel across the region or division serviced is required. Part-time positions available. Salary is pro-rated based on hours for part-time incumbents.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is one of North America's largest deployed police services with more than 5,800 uniformed officers, 2,400 civilian employees and 830 Auxiliary officers. We provide essential services that ensure the safety and security of the people of the Province of Ontario. The OPP is a division of the Ministry of the Solicitor General, the largest operational ministry in the province with a presence in every community across Ontario. The OPP continues to work to ensure psychological health, safety and respect are embedded into all aspects of our organization. The Healthy Workplace Team is evolving towards a practitioner-led structure, which will include regional service hubs across the province, and will be as independent of the organization as possible to ensure member confidentiality while adhering to the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).

The Healthy Workplace Team provides access to a wide range of health and wellness services. Our team is comprised of psychologists, mental health clinicians, and care navigators. Our team also offers fitness and nutrition services. The Healthy Workplace Team coordinates organizational and wellness programs including peer support and the Chaplaincy Program. Our team also coordinates and supports the occupational medicine program for employees and managers which is delivered by an external occupational physician.

What can I expect to do in this role?As a key member of our team, you will focus on priorities including:

• Provide leadership and consultative expertise to the Mental Health Clinician team and the greater HWT teams.
• Support mental health literacy initiatives, contributing to culture change.
• Offer current research, clinical consultation, oversight, and feedback strategies.
• Lead the rollout of Person Centered Leadership training based on the 13 psychosocial factors.
• Research, review and provide clinical expertise and guidance on educational initiatives by the Healthy Workplace Team.
• Develop feedback mechanisms and facilitate committees to ensure priorities are responsive to the organization.
• Offer clinical expertise and recommendations for process improvements.
• Implement feedback loops and recommendations for best practices.

Note: This position requires availability to provide after-hours support for members as needed (e.g., critical incidents).

How do I qualify?Mandatory• Successful completion of a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, or recognized equivalent, from an accredited university.
• Registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) as a Psychologist in Autonomous Practice
• Valid Class “G” Driver License and/or ability to travel extensively as required (fleet vehicle provided).
• Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation.
Bilingual Position: You must possess oral and written French language skills at the advanced level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrated experience as a clinical psychologist with knowledge of personality assessment and evidence based approaches to short-term treatment.
• Ability to provide professional psychological support to first responders in traditional and non-traditional environments, including virtual and in-field settings.
• Confidence navigating ethical decision making and consulting as needed.
• Knowledge of police work and culture including administration of police services and understanding of critical incident stress response models to collaborate and contribute to complementary programs.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• Highest level of integrity and professional confidentiality to support our members.
• Ability to effectively respond to uniform and civilian members in crisis.
• Effectively communicate information on assessment approaches, findings, treatments and educational activities.
• Ability to maintain strong working relationships with uniform and civilian members, as well as organization partners and stakeholders.

Program Development, Analytical and Organizational Skills

• Capacity to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of treatment and rehabilitative programs.
• Ability to work independently and function with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative, analytical skills, leadership, superior judgement and decision-making ability.
• Possess a high degree of professionalism and the ability to balance competing client demands in a high-paced work environment.
• Ability to support the development, implement and facilitation of educational initiatives designed to reduce stigma regarding psychological help-seeking and enhance the resilience and coping abilities of members.
• Ability to organize and co-ordinate psychological services including wellbeing check-ins for specialized units.
