The opportunity
The position is responsible for providing direction and oversight for the portfolio of technology and process improvement initiatives that are collectively encompassed under IT Operations to support the effectiveness and efficiency of IT Processes and Solution Delivery.
The scope of this accountability includes the creation and execution of strategies to satisfy the operational requirements of the Information Technology Division and / or Corporate Division customers. The position is responsible to provide leadership in designing, implementing and monitoring improvements to processes and related technology to drive improvements and efficiencies within the IT division.
Who you'll work with
The incumbent will work closely with department leaders to ensure processes are meeting the defined requirements and related objectives. They will assist in developing the IT Business Process and Application road map. Programs are organizational units established within Investment IT to provide an information technology focus, for key lines-of-business and business processes, supporting the Investments, Finance and Corporate Divisions.
What you'll do
Collaborates with line-of-business owners, business application owners and users, and information technology stakeholders to evaluate the benefits, costs and risks associate with the delivery of line-of-business technology capabilities, solutions and process improvements
Confers with line-of-business owners, customer stakeholders and information technology stakeholders to define the objectives, priorities, scope, milestones and resource requirements for line-of-business technology capabilities and initiatives
Develops business application plans identifying benefits, dependencies, synergies, risks and costs
Directs line-of-business technology activities - striking a balance between new solutions, enhancements and production support activities
Leads the analysis of business and information technology requirements to outline solution alternatives considering benefits, risks and costs
Collaborates with line-of-business owners, customer stakeholders and information technology stakeholders in selecting solutions for implementation
May directly manage a small team of business and support analysts, ensuring the delivery of accountabilities, duties and responsibilities prescribed for their role. Conducts performance evaluation and development planning for these individuals.
Manages information technology relationships with third-party system and service vendors Monitors and reviews line-of-business technology activities to ensure their ongoing alignment to the strategies and goals of the organization
Serves as the “IT Owner” for each application managed, accountable for ensuring that functional and technical operation is in alignment with the requirements of the business. Where gaps exist, develops and executes against plans to remediate.
Evaluates line-of-business technology requirements ensuring their adherence to information technology policies and standards
Remains current as to business and technology developments and trends affecting line-of business customers in order to inform planning and facilitate the evaluation of solution benefits, costs and alternatives
Measures, monitors and expands line-of-business technology performance Serves as an information technology lead in the context of delivering application support for and small / medium enhancements to the application portfolio
Actively collaborates with information technology groups and stakeholders to support the delivery organizational and information technology objectives
Accountable for delivering customer value, considering both benefits and costs, through the day-to-day management of application maintenance and enhancement activities
Accountable for the elicitation, analysis and documentation of application requirements to facilitate customer value discussions
Accountable for the review of application environments across lines-of-business, developing plans to maintain their functional and technical healths
Accountable for the efficient operation and continuous improvement of line-of-business technology capabilities, processes and practices
Accountable for developing and executing against solution alternatives and corresponding work plans for application support and improvement. These alternatives and plans are made in response to the requirements and priorities of business stakeholders, and are considerate of factors including technology options, IT capabilities, and resource capacity.
Accountable for the adherence of line-of-business activities and applications to information technology policies and standard
What you'll need
A minimum of 6 years experience in an information technology service delivery role. Nice to have: Capital Markets experience.
A minimum of 2 years experience delivering services and solutions specifically aligned to the requirements of the Program and its customers.
Ideally should have experience with the following: .NET, SQL, Python, C#, and Power BI
B.Comm or equivalent University degree Good understanding of the business objectives, processes and practices related to the line of-business
Good understanding of solutions and technologies supporting the current and future needs of the line-of-business
Good understanding of general investment management, investment finance and corporate concepts, processes and practices
Excellent understanding of technologies, techniques and tools pertaining to the analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of software solutions
Good understanding of software platforms, groupware, middleware, databases, connectivity solutions and hardware platforms
Excellent knowledge of information technology processes in the areas of application management and software requirements management
Excellent application management knowledge and experience
Good project management knowledge and experience
Good understanding of general business and management practices Leadership: This individual will be recognized by senior management, customer stakeholders, information technology stakeholders and program team members as a leader
This individual has developed a track record of successfully delivering initiatives
