As the Intern - Corporate Finance & Financial Reporting, you will be part of a highly collaborative team and gain exposure to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will gain hands-on experience across financial management and reporting and contribute to various process improvement projects and initiatives within a highly dynamic and global environment.

Who you’ll work with

The Corporate Finance & Financial Reporting team strives to be exceptional financial partners to the organization, providing value-add service, data driven insights and expertise - with an innovative mindset.

As a Corporate Finance & Financial Reporting Intern, you will work in the Toronto office reporting to a Manager or above on the team. You will have the opportunity to liaise with multiple stakeholders, including the Investments, Communications, Operations, Tax, and Legal.

What you’ll do

  • Participate in the preparation and analysis of Ontario Teachers' consolidated and/or subsidiary financial statements.
  • Execute key reporting and operational processes, including cash disbursements, month-end close and financial report preparation.
  • Contribute to implementing process improvement projects and initiatives, actively shaping the evolution of our processes and the robustness of our controls.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to any of the reports/processes used by the team.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects, as required.

What you’ll need

  • Progress towards a relevant undergraduate university degree (e.g. business degree with accounting focus), enrolled in 3rd/4th year, with a proven record of academic and extracurricular achievement.
  • Interest in the CPA designation and familiarity with accounting concepts is required.
  • Attention to detail with a strong ability to multi-task and work independently while maintaining a high work standard.
  • Process improvement mindset, commitment to learning and growth, and curiosity in challenging the status quo.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, IF/XLOOKUP formulas, managing large dataset exports, etc.). . Experience with PowerBI, VBA, or Python is an asset.
  • You should be enrolled in a co-op program or returning back to your studies after the work term is completed.
