Description
As a Sr Business Analyst in an agile Product & Delivery team, you are passionate about business analysis. With your deep understanding of capital market products, business processes and application knowledge, you will have opportunity to apply business analysis practices and product knowledge to enable the delivery of appropriate solutions to achieve business outcomes and benefits. This is a hands-on role that proactively applies analysis expertise in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
Who you'll work withYou will be part of a Product team under Asset Management. In this dynamic role, teamwork will be the key to your success as you work collaboratively within a cross functional team such as Product Owner, Scrum Master, Product Engineers, QAs, Production Support teams as well as external vendor consultants in a SaaS environment. You will be supporting and enabling our Front Office business partners (e.g. portfolio managers and traders) on product deliverables that encompass break-fixes, small & medium enhancements as well as large and complex initiatives.
When serving as a “BA Lead” for an initiative, you are expected to demonstrate leadership, guide and support BAs to ensure the quality of work provided is appropriate for delivery objectives.
Engages business clients to elicit and facilitate agreement on business requirements (e.g. business value, outcomes, objectives, scope, functionality, etc.) of prioritized initiatives
Creates business analysis related materials, (e.g. functional and non-functional requirements in the form of user stories, workflows, functional specifications, data mapping, etc.) with appropriate detail and quality for coding and testing teams to consume and complete their respective deliverables from
Conceives, proposes and facilitates the selection of viable functional solution alternatives
Works with business and solution teams to ensure that solutions being delivered meet business intent and provide business value and benefits
Demonstrates requirements/user stories traceability and, where appropriate, leads the User Acceptance phase of initiatives (define strategy, plan, approve test cases, oversee execution).
Leads and participates in the initiation and planning of initiatives - including facilitating the definition of objectives, scope, and deliverables as well as provide Business Analysis work estimates.
Leads and contributes to the operation and improvement of the delivery team
Provides coaching, professional guidance and support to Business Analyst peers, product team members, as required, to foster team learning and professional development
Contributes to the improvement of BA standards and practices by making and implementing recommendations in consultation with the Business Analysis senior leader
Leads the effort in BA approach selection and planning activities required for initiative delivery
Advocates, creates and maintains product documentation in persistent information repositories (Confluence and/or SharePoint)
Builds solid partnerships with Business Partners, Product Owners, Product Engineering and Quality Assurance teams, vendors, and other key stakeholders
Has a keen interest in emerging technologies including those within key vendor and strategic partner applications
University degree or equivalent experience (Business/Finance, Financial Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering)
Asset would be one or more of:
CFA
Process improvement methodology accreditation
Certified Business Analysis Professional
Minimum 10 years’ experience in business analysis or product management in the institutional investment industry
Extensive knowledge of institutional investment products including Derivatives, Exchange-traded products, and / or Private & Alternative Investments. In-depth understanding of Front Office business processes including, but not limited to portfolio management, order management and execution, as well as investment front-through-back trade lifecycle and market practices.
Leadership and experience in guiding, coaching BAs on both business analysis processes and delivery efficiency
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with proactive customer focus mindset
Experience with vendor management. Ability to negotiate and influence to achieve positive outcomes.
Ability to prioritize, coordinate and complete tasks to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and in a team environment, collaborating effectively with business, delivery and technology partners
Excellent understanding of techniques and tools pertaining to the planning, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of technology solutions
Robust understanding of agile (e.g. Kanban) and iterative project management delivery methodologies and the difference between needs and wants
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with multiple levels of clients, team and partners
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of the following business applications & technologies is an asset: Charles River, Bloomberg, FIX certification, FlexTrade, Tradeweb, PL/SQL, Microsoft Power BI, Excel Power Pivot.
