Under the direction of the Superintendent of Learning Technologies, the Senior Manager is important to the success of the Learning Technologies Department and ultimately to the innovation strategies at the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB). The Senior Manager has a thorough understanding of the OCSB’s mission, vision, values, priorities, and strategic plan, as well as the initiatives of the Ministry of Education. As a member of the leadership team, the Senior Manager leads the day-to-day activities of the Learning Technologies department and its team members with the objective of meeting the department’s operational goals. Working outside of regular business hours may be required based on operational requirements and departmental deadlines or initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Lead, supervise and mentor a team of Learning Technologies staff including onboarding and training and professional development of new employees

Identify hiring needs and participate in the recruitment process for staff in collaboration with Human Resources

Facilitate and manage performance and attendance support programs for staff as necessary

Prepare and manage the departmental budget along with authorizing and monitoring expenditures

Lead or participate in strategic planning sessions at the department, Board, regional or provincial levels

Facilitate and participate in the approval process for recommended technology solutions

Consult with schools, departments, OCSB Executives, Board of Directors and Audit Committees on process issues and improvement initiatives

Negotiate with third parties including OECM, such as suppliers, for the provision of specific expertise and services

Maintain a professional relationship with external partners and ensure the availability of consulting services for your department.

Research, develop, implement and evaluate internal controls

In collaboration with the team draft, implement and update policies, plans and procedures for the operation of the department

Apply for government grants to support projects (such as cyber protection strategy)

Seek value-added opportunities aimed at improving processes and cost savings

Lead and/or participate on various committees and special projects

Qualifications and Experience

University degree in a related field

7-10 years related experience, with progressive experience in supervisory and leadership roles

Ability to lead and mentor a team of professionals and capable of providing sound advice and interpretation of policies or ideas

Demonstrated experience in IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and tools

Knowledge of Cybersecurity Frameworks

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, reading, written).

Ability to remain calm while navigating unexpected changes, difficult conversations, and/or stressful situations

Proven analytical and negotiation skills

High level of initiative, discretion, judgement, and tact

Capable of handling highly confidential and sensitive information

Strong ability to prioritize, delegate, and multi-task along with excellent time management skills

Proficiency with software applications including but not limited to Google Suite,Microsoft, etc.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered

The following would be considered an asset:

Professional certification or designation (eg. Project Management Professional, Information Technology Infrastructure Library, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Six Sigma, etc.)

This is a full time (1.0 FTE) permanent assignment with an anticipated start date as soon as the recruitment process has been completed. The annual salary range for this role is $132,375 - $148,911. A comprehensive employee benefits and pension package is provided.
