Parkland School Division (PSD) is a large progressive school jurisdiction serving Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Parkland County and Athabasca Delta Community School in the northern remote community of Fort Chipewyan. The Opportunity:
We are inviting candidates to apply to be an Acting Assistant Principal at Connections for Learning (CFL), Spruce Grove Campus. Connections for Learning is a vibrant and innovative learning community dedicated to providing unique programs of choice that inspire students in Grades 1-9. CFL fosters opportunities for students to learn in an inclusive environment with traditional and flexible options such as home education, virtual learning, blended learning and outreach programs. The Acting Assistant Principal role is a temporary position from January to June 2025, with the possibility of an extension for the 2025-2026 school year. As part of the leadership team, you will oversee and support a variety of CFL programs including High School Pathways, High School Learning Hub, Junior High Learning Hub and Virtual Learning.
As an Acting Assistant Principal, your primary responsibilities will include:
Demonstrating creative, visionary leadership that assists our school communities to provide meaningful, relevant educational opportunities for our 21st century learners.
Providing instructional leadership to our teaching teams to support the continued development of engaging learning environments for students, which includes effective assessment practices and activities which support student growth.
Collaborating with staff, students, parents and administrative teams to plan for the delivery of quality programs that are responsive to students.
Managing and organizing school routines and procedures that ensure a safe and caring school community.
Working as a member of the administrative team to maintain a positive school culture and a sense of community.

A strong commitment to fostering a positive school climate and motivating colleagues to achieve school and Divisional goals.
Demonstrated experience in team oriented school leadership, professional learning communities, and a master teacher with demonstrated excellence in literacy and numeracy.
Demonstrated excellence in collaborative leadership.
The ability to build strong relationships and a track record of excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
A commitment to excellence in education and a commitment to professional growth.
A deep understanding of students’ needs, and how to support our diverse community of learners.
A willingness to learn new technology skills and applications, which support administrative and instructional functions.
Qualifications:
Completion of a Masters Degree in Education or pursuing a Masters in Education is an asset.
Valid Alberta Teacher Certification is required.
This position requires a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and a child intervention record check.
