The Opportunity:

The Parkland School Division has a Permanent Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Communications Coordinator position available at Centre for Education in Stony Plain, Alberta.

As a Communications Coordinator, your primary responsibilities will include:

Creating content for the Division (primarily website material, including written stories for web as well as the Division’s social media channels which includes videographer storytelling, video shooting and editing for YouTube, Facebook, etc.);

Writing effective print-based, web-based communications, and maintaining a basic understanding of web technology;

Assisting in the creation of division collateral used by various departments throughout the Division, including Student Supports & Services, Wellness and Early Childhood Services;

Staying motivated and taking the initiative when interacting with internal clients both in the corporate office as well as with staff, senior administrators and educators in all schools and departments; and

Developing work plans and working with diverse stakeholders with various needs.

Qualifications:

Graduate of a college or university program in communications, public relations or broadcast journalism;

Ideally, a minimum of three to five years in the public sector, corporate or not-for-profit web-based communications environment. Experience should include complex communication projects (particularly website) and the ability to deal with sensitive issues;

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including an excellent work ethic and strong interpersonal skills;

A strong team player with a commitment to completing tasks and projects;

This position involves daily tasks that require a working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects;

A positive record of working effectively with senior executives, diverse internal stakeholder groups with multiple needs; and

A solid knowledge base as a web communications generalist.

This position requires an original copy of a current clean criminal record with vulnerable sector check and an original copy of a child intervention record check.

This position is covered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 5543

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours /week (Monday to Friday)

Pay Rate: $31.61 - $35.57 per hour (Pay Group 6)
