Some of our recent impactful projects in Western Canada include Highway 1 Kicking Horse Canyon Phase 4, Southwest Calgary Ring Road, Regina Bypass, and St. Mary’s Interchange at PTH100 just to name a few.

Parsons is now hiring Senior Transportation Engineers with a desire to work on roads and highway projects that change the fabric of our communities. Parsons extensive experience in this field, combined with your engineering knowledge, will propel your career forward with opportunity for advancement with top performance. We need our Senior Transportation Engineers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team oriented environments and who have exceptional communication, analytical and management skills.

In this role you will work a wide variety of challenging roads and highway engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses. You will apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses which may involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex engineering road and highway tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.
  • Extract engineering information from CAD drawings. Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
  • Complete a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.
  • Frequently interface with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
  • Serve as a task team lead on small to large design and construction projects, responsible for meeting budget, schedule, and client quality requirements.
  • Prepare detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
  • Review supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.
  • Prepare and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
  • Provide technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and other Engineers working on the same project.
  • May be required to sign and seal documents as the professional Engineer of Record, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Opportunity to build and grow a local team of Engineers, Designers, and CAD Designer/Drafters to support business development in Western Canada
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related field) and 8+ years of related work experience.
  • Registered as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or eligible for registration, with Canadian provincial engineering regulatory bodies.
  • Experience working on City of Winnipeg / City of Calgary / City of Edmonton, Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure, Alberta Transportation, Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure, or BC Ministry of Transportation projects is required.
  • Proficiency in utilizing OpenRoads Design / MicroStation and/or Civil 3D / AutoCAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) from Project Management Institute is an asset.
