QUALIFICATIONS
* Full-time high school or post-secondary student enrolled in a Health Care or Social Sciences program, legally entitled to work in Canada and returning to their studies in the fall
* Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
* Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information
* Demonstrated ability in maintaining effective interpersonal working relationships required
* Demonstrated strong organizational, decision making and problem solving skills
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment
* Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
* Maintain a professional manner at all times
* Ability to prioritize in a changing environment
* Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
* Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
* Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis


POSITION SUMMARY

The summer student in Mental Health Services community based programs assists clients in their personal recovery in community based and vocational settings. Working with activity Instructors, the summer student provides teaching, training, programming, role modelling, guidance and support to the clients to assist them to reach their goals. The Mental Health Summer Student is committed to the vision, mission, values and strategic priorities of Prairie Mountain Health functioning within their position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides teaching, training, guidance and support to clients.
  2. Engages with clients to build a therapeutic relationship.
  3. Participates with the team to make treatment plans for clients.
  4. Organizes and manages workload to perform job requirements in accordance with program priorities.
  5. Completes documentation and reporting in accordance with program standards.
  6. Completes other duties as assigned.
