Summer Student, Public Health

QUALIFICATIONS
* Full-time post secondary student, legally entitled to work in Canada and intending to return to studies in the fall
* Completion of the second year of a Bachelor of Nursing Program
* Proficiency with Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook) and basic office equipment
* Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
* Demonstrated ability in maintaining effective interpersonal working relationships required
* Demonstrated strong organizational, decision making and problem solving skills
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment
* Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
* Maintain a professional manner at all times
* Ability to prioritize in a changing environment
* Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
* Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
* Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis

POSITION SUMMARY

The Public Health summer student provides support to managers and staff through completion of various projects. The scope of projects may include, but is not limited to, development of resources, reports, data collection and analysis, literature reviews, program specific audits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with Public Health managers and staff to complete projects as assigned (audits, resource development, data collection and analysis, literature reviews etc).
2. Keep supervisor informed regarding project progress and requests assistance or direction as required.
3. Participate in meetings as requested.
4. Travel within the region as required.
5. Completes sundry duties as assigned.
