You are a self-starter with extensive expertise in machining, with preferably 5-7 years experience minimum as a red seal journey person machinist, possessing a continuous improvement mindset. You are a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in machining technologies, with the proven ability to operate and troubleshoot newer equipment, manage projects, and drive results. Your expertise allows you to support various complex projects while also training and mentoring others. As part of a dynamic and responsive team, you are flexible and ready to be on call when needed.
What your day to day will look like:
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in machining operations and technologies, providing leadership and technical support across multiple projects.
- Perform setup, operation, and troubleshooting of advanced machining equipment.
- Ensure optimal machine performance and accuracy, meeting tight tolerance and precision requirements.
- Lead project management efforts, coordinating resources, timelines, and ensuring delivery of results.
- Train and mentor junior machinists, sharing best practices and advancing team knowledge.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support production by addressing machining challenges and maintaining workflow efficiency.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards.
- Maintain flexibility to meet changing project needs, including being on call as required.
- Perform assembly, test and inspection functions in a variety of areas as required.
- Strip, inspect, assemble, balance, test and package engines as directed and as required.
- Support the safe delivery of quality aircraft engines.
The tools you need to be successful:
This multi-faceted role calls for a candidate with extensive experience in machining, preferably with:
- Journeyman Certification in Machining, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
- Expertise with CNC machines, 5-axis machining, and newer machining technologies.
- Strong project management skills, with a proven track record of driving successful projects.
- Experience training and mentoring others, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Flexibility to be on call and support urgent machining needs.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, bend, reach, and work with hand tools.
