Description

The Financial Analyst role will be supporting functional budgeting/forecasting activities along with the month end reporting and analysis, business cases, investment analysis, ad-hoc management reporting (including scenario modeling and profitability analysis). This role will partner with assigned Operations business leads and functions to provide financial support and insights and assist with the execution of operational and financial plans.

Responsibilities

Analysis

  • Performs and delivers monthly analysis on forecast/plan variances.
  • Provides financial expertise and analysis to support monthly results.
  • Tracks performance against budget, prior year and forecast. Identifies variances to actual results.
  • Understands expense drivers, supports problem solving and develops recommendations.
  • Generates analytics on performance, identifying problems, and initiating process improvement suggestions.
  • Provides financial and business-related analysis to assess the impact of projects and initiatives.
  • Performs advance analytics (scenario modelling, profitability analysis) to assist with strategic decision support and financial performance improvements.

Planning/budgeting/forecasting

  • Prepares, co-ordinates and facilitates the annual operating budgets for assigned Operations functions.
  • Prepares periodic forecasts (P3, P5, etc.) to set baseline for the following year’s budget.
  • Works with the business functions in establishing the budgets and forecasts while highlighting any risks or opportunities to their financial plans.
  • Assists with the preparation of functional budget/forecast related presentations.
Additional Responsibilities

Reporting

  • Prepares materials for functional MBRs, business cases, planning sessions.
  • Ad-hoc management reporting as required.

Business Partnering

  • Provides dedicated decision support to assigned Operations business leads and functions.
  • Supports the development and communication of financial insights to drive performance improvements and value creation.
  • Assists with business cases and investment analysis and strategy.
  • Provides financial data and insights to assist management to develop action plans to improve profitability.
  • Partners with all areas of Finance to ensure accurate financial reporting, achievement of planning/budgeting/forecasting timelines.
Education

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance
  • Minimum of 5-year financial planning/analysis experience in a similar role
  • Experience with scenario planning/modelling
  • High degree of familiarity with standard financial statements/reports
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
  • Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA is an asset

  • Strong analytical and investigative abilities to ensure financial information is reported and presented accurately
  • Storytelling, influence, communication: ability to prepare and present financial information in written and verbal format to non-financial audiences

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to multitask and work in a fast paced/demanding environment
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision
  • Thrive in a challenging environment with the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple requests/priorities/responsibilities
