What is the Opportunity?

The Associate Director, Credit Risk Analytics and Modeling will support the model development and model monitoring of RBCs Retail AIRB regulatory capital parameters and Retail IFRS9 models from a data analytics and portfolio management perspective.

You will focus on the preparation of the data ingested for modeling Retail parameters: PD/LGD/EAD, and back-testing of the parameter performance. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance of data used in credit risk modeling. You will assist the Director, Credit Risk Analytics and Modeling in the execution and maintenance of tools and processes that support model development and model performance monitoring. You will assist Senior Management and the Board in understanding critical parameter estimation issues relating to credit risk parameters.

What will you do?

  • Model Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Perform the quarterly monitoring process for AIRB and IFRS 9 models, ensuring quarterly regulatory reports reflects the banks true loss experience and provisioning. Analyze trends, variances, and potential data/model issues that may arise during the monitoring process.
  • Analytics for Credit Risk Models: Provide expert support on data preparation and manipulation for AIRB and IFRS 9 credit risk models, for example, construct cohorts, conduct pattern analysis, inference the potential impacts on parameters and modeling etc. Collaborate closely with stakeholders including modeling team, credit strategy team, validation team and provide advanced level analytical support.
  • Data Quality Management: Lead initiatives to monitor, assess, and enhance data quality across various systems. Have a good understanding of retail products (including mortgages, line of credits, credit cards etc.) and be able to apply the knowledge and relate it to usage of data in modeling framework detecting data anomalies, product evolvements, gaps or issues that could impact model performance or regulatory reporting.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Stakeholder Engagement: Ensure that all processes and reports comply with relevant regulatory requirements and internal modeling standards. Work with model validation, internal audit and regulators as necessary, providing analytical insights and recommendations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements. Implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of data analytics in credit risk modeling.
  • Documentation and Standards: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of data processes, standards, and quality controls. Ensure that these documents are up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Degree in quantitative field of study (e.g. Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Business Administration) to demonstrate capability for critical thinking and data analytics
  • A minimum 5 years of related experience with in-depth knowledge in any of the following disciplines: risk management (credit, market, operational, etc.), data science, data analytics
  • Strong credit risk modeling knowledge and good understanding of consumer lending products such as mortgages, credit cards, lines of credits etc.
  • Strong data manipulation capability and analytical skills with advanced knowledge in Python, SAS, SQL; expertise with MS Office Suite.
  • Effective and equally conversant in translating technical expertise into business language that drive insights
  • Advanced knowledge and working experience with data management and data visualization using tools including Tableau
