What is the opportunity?

Are you an security professional seeking a greater role that brings global impact? As an Associate Director, Executive & Event Protection, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety & security of RBC's 97,000+ employees worldwide.Additionally, you will be responsible for the operational aspects of RBCs Executive Protection program along with providing security planning expertise and guidance for events across the enterprise.

In this role, your knowledge of threat risk assessments, security planning, executive protection, and operational implementation will contribute to the continuity of RBCs operations.

What will you do?

  • Security planning for executive trips and events, attendance at events- often outside regular hours

  • Primary response to security incidents involving designated employees or events

  • Conduct reviews, assessments, planning, consultations, and guidance on security issues to designated employees

  • Manage emergency situations including security threats, but also including emergencies that involve response to natural and man-made disasters, medical emergencies and travel logistics

  • Provide front-line management to relevant vendors

  • Project management of security related projects

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Proven years of relevant experience in physical security

  • Excellent understanding of Threat Risk Assessments, Security Planning, Security Operations

  • Experience in Executive Protection, working in multiple geographic locations

  • A knowledge of the law enforcement community, the Criminal Code of Canada, and related Statutes in order to maintain an effective liaison relationship with Police & other security & Government agencies.

  • Diplomatic skills and proven competency to interact with all levels of Management while displaying a high level of security professionalism and discretion.

  • Ability to recognize actual or potential security breaches and respond to all incidents that may impact personnel or site security and/or safety of Executives or Employees.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work across various lines of business

  • Solid understanding of risk mitigation strategies

  • Strong and proven ability to deal with ambiguity in a rapidly changing environment

Nice-to-have

  • Post Secondary education from a recognized college or university, preferably in the areas of International Relations, Security / Strategic / Intelligence Studies, Political Science

  • CPP Certified Protection Profession designation from ASIS International
