What is the opportunity?

Over the past decade, RBC has developed a best-in-class approach to Thought Leadership, with research reports, podcasts, social media and events that are designed to inform and inspire the kind of critical thinking Canada needs to prosper in the decade ahead. To strengthen our work and shape our priorities, we are seeking a Senior Director of Thought Leadership. The successful candidate will have a strong sense of national issues, especially from an economic policy perspective, and be able to guide a diversity of research ranging from a rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape to skills and post-secondary education to the impact the AI transformation will have on all aspects of our society. With our countrys changing political landscape, our work to lead national conversations, convene government and private sector leaders, and facilitate bold action to advance Canadas place in the world will take on even greater importance.

This role involves delivering high-impact research, insights, and thought leadership aligned with strategic priorities, including geopolitics & trade, disruptive technology (AI adoption, clean tech), human capital (skills, education, demographics) and housing. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader with deep expertise of the Canadian economy and the key issues that shape our national agenda across policy and industry. They have a passion for driving prosperity and tackling Canadas most pressing challenges.

What will you do?

  • Develop and execute RBCs thought leadership and research strategy to position the organization as a trusted leaders on key economic and social topics.
  • Together with a team of subject matter experts, produce world class research, thought leadership and insights (geopolitics, disruptive technology, human capital, and housing)
  • Build research partnerships with academic institutions, think tanks, and industry groups to enhance RBCs research and data capabilities
  • Collaborate with the broader team to identify emerging trends and produce flagship reports, white papers, and multimedia content
  • Represent RBC in public forums, media engagements, and stakeholder discussions to amplify findings as required
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team, providing mentorship and fostering innovation
  • Work with a dynamic, high-performing team shaping the future of Canada

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Minimum 10+ years in thought leadership, economic analysis, research, and insights
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in economics, public policy, global affairs or research
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for driving prosperity and tackling Canadas most pressing challenges
  • Exceptional research and writing skills
  • Deep expertise in translating complex data into actionable insights

Nice-to-have

  • Previous experience in a large, global leading Financial Institution or consulting firm
