Container Treatment Supervisor

Responsible for all localized container processing activities of the Material Processing facility including but not limited to shredding, container processing, internal transportation, returns / mail-back processing, receiving, data collection, quality control and destructions. Accountable for the obtainment of optimum efficiency and economy of all facility operations while maintaining a safe worksite and complying with regulatory agencies. Expected to provide strong leadership to employees within the facility to maximize operations. Expected to maximize profiles by performing the following duties personal or through subordinate leadership.

Key responsibilities, deliverables and expectations:

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Manager Container Treatment is responsible for leading and managing a team of operations maintenance and plant support employees.

  • Set clear expectations, lead, coordinate, train and direct plant employees on initiatives from Corporate and divisional leaders;

  • Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to lead others toward meeting or exceeding financial operational and performance goals.

  • Coordinate and communicate all phases of operations including receiving and shipping loads and processing materials;

  • Ensuring all preventative maintenance obligations are consistently met and ensure that the facility is audit ready

  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with our other Reworld locations daily to provide support to our sales team, operations, and the needs of our clients.

  • Analyze facility budget and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement while identify areas in which cost reductions and program improvements can be made.

  • Successfully manage employee performance while mentoring and guiding the overall growth of the facility

  • Assist in pursuing all unidentified facility growth opportunities and develop methods and solutions that make them feasible

  • Ensures accurate recording of data in the Management System

  • The Container Treatment Manager is a strong advocate for our environment and safety efforts.

  • Operates the facility in a manner that protects the health and safety of employees and visitors as a first priority which includes familiarity with regulations and permits governing the facility.

  • Maximizes the financial return received by Covanta from the operation & maintenance of the facility.

  • Coordinates all outage and maintenance planning

  • Works closely with Operations manager to pursue opportunities aimed at maximizing the return on all assets associated with the facility.

  • Strives to improve the performance and takes primary responsibility for all operating expenses.

  • Coordinates staff efforts to solve problems and respond to opportunities as well as motivate the team to encourage personal and professional growth.

  • Ensures compliance with all contracts to protect long-term interests of the company.

  • Ensures compliance with environmental standards and applicable governmental regulations.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in related industry

  • Extensive leadership and team building skills

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook

  • Ability to analyze information and suggest improvements

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and time management skills

  • Background in waste management, environmental regulations, laboratory analysis, regulatory requirements is preferred

  • Knowledge of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods preferred.

  • Knowledge of provincial, Canadian and US Hazardous waste regulations preferred.

  • Demonstrates the ability to make sound decisions after considering all facts, potential risks, customer needs, and alternative solutions when dealing with all types of issues.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work in a safe, responsible and ethical manner either alone or under direct supervision.

  • Strong knowledge of hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste is beneficial.

Experience:

A minimum 8 years of relevant experience with a proven track record of increasing managerial responsibility in a plant environment
