Contract Type: Temporary, Full-time (Secondment)

Assignment Area(s): Indigenous Education Grad Coach

Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Effective Date: Immediately until not later than June 30, 2025

2. Due to the specialized nature of this position, the successful applicant, if currently a continuing appointee with Chilliwack School District, may be "seconded" to this position thereby having the assurance to return to his/her former position.

The Indigenous Education Grad Coach-will work directly with teachers and students throughout the school district. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of Learning Services.

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

• knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment

• extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment

• demonstrated successful Secondary School experience for at least 5 years

• extensive knowledge of secondary curriculum, graduation requirements and post-secondary opportunities

• extensive experience building meaningful success plans for secondary students using My Education BC for scheduling, reporting, attendance, assessments etc.

• a strong understanding of available educational programs and services including work and career experience, assisting with post-secondary documentation, scholarship/bursary coordination, an understanding of timetables and scheduling as it relates to building a customized success plan for the student;

• demonstrated ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders (First Nations, community, District, school-teams, etc) to integrate academic achievement and Indigenous culture within a positive social, emotional, and educational learning experience

• demonstrated ability to provide opportunities for student leadership skills, and ability to connect with community role models

• ability to be a positive liaison between home, school, and community to assist in creating an environment to ensure student success

• ability to create connections within the school and community, to bring awareness to supports and opportunities for students

• ability to host, facilitate and attend a variety of meetings with students, staff, parents, and the community to discuss and relay scholarship, career, school programming and post-secondary information

• ability to create a sense of community that promotes school engagement which allows students to build self-confidence and self-worth

• demonstrated ability to achieve the outcomes as defined through the various policies linked to the Enhancement Agreements, School Plans, Individual student plans and Strategic Plan to support the achievement of Indigenous students

• excellent leadership, organizational and coordination skills

• preference may be given to candidates of Indigenous decent

• valid BC driver's license
