Contract Type: Temporary, Full-Time
Assignment Area(s): Intermediate - Grade 4 / 5 Combined
Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement)
Effective Date: Immediately until not later than November 17, 2024

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
• Extensive academic training, professional preparation and qualifications in all areas of this assignment
• knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
• training and successful experience in teaching students using Ministry of Education New Curriculum
• demonstrated ability to plan for and teach all required subjects at posted grade level
• knowledge and demonstrated ability in teaching a well-balanced literacy program to students - preference will be given to individuals who are familiar with and willing to use daily guided reading strategies as part of a balanced literacy program
• knowledge and demonstrated ability in using sound teaching practices exemplified in SMART learning, Reading Power and Writing Power/Write Traits, SNAP
• knowledge and demonstrated ability in teaching a well-balanced numeracy program to students
• demonstrated ability to partner with the community to provide meaningful learning experiences for students including Place-Based Learning
• demonstrated ability to effectively address students lagging skills, and demonstrated effective classroom organizational skills to meet students’ social and emotional needs
• excellent skills and experience in all areas of classroom management and the promotion of a positive and effective classroom learning environment through a collaborative proactive solutions approach
• knowledge of and proven experience in using current assessment practices to allow students to show what they know and to guide instruction
• knowledge of methods for selecting, modifying and adapting instructional materials to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of a diverse group of students
• possess strong computer literacy skills and proven ability to apply them as instructional tools to support students’ learning needs
• commitment to implementing all aspects of the Code of Conduct and Behaviour Matrix within the classroom and throughout the school
• proven ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff and parents
• proven ability as an effective team member leading school-wide initiative, willing to work collaboratively with staff, parents and administration (School Based Team model)
