POSITION
Worksite: Robertson Elementary School
Contract Type: Temporary Part-Time (50% - TBD)
Assignment Area(s): Learning Assistance (30%) and Preparation Teacher (PE Prep - 20%)
Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)
Effective Date: Immediately until not later than June 30, 2025

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
• extensive academic training and post graduate coursework in the following areas: students with special needs; assessment/testing theory and practice (Level B); strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum
• knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as outlined in the Manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for Special Education Services
• demonstrated experience and ability in being able to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of Level B Assessments including the WIAT, PPVT, Key Math and TOWL
• demonstrated experience in and knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of special needs and learning disabilities
• knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of IEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student and district personnel
• extensive academic training, professional preparation and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment at the elementary school level
• knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
• successful experience teaching K to 6
• successful experience using technology as an instructional tool
• demonstrated ability and proven experience using performance standard assessments
• demonstrated ability and proven experience using “For, Of, & As” assessment practices
• demonstrated ability and proven experience of excellent classroom management, behavioural management and organizational skills
• demonstrated ability in using a variety of formative and summative assessments to plan for instruction
• knowledge of and demonstrated ability in addressing the wide range of academic, social, emotional and behavioral needs of children
• knowledge of and commitment to support PBS and school-wide initiatives
• commitment and willingness to work collaboratively with staff, parents and administration in order to support all students through an RTI system and student centered model
• demonstrated ability to co-ordinate and manage a preparation time schedule that requires excellent organizational and communication skills
• commitment to becoming involved and positively contributing to the culture of the school
• evidence of personal initiative and strong work ethic with a proven ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member
