Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)
Effective Date: Immediately until not later than December 20, 2024 (or return of teacher)
Please Note: If we have no qualified applicants, we are willing to consider applicants who do not possess the qualifications for this assignment but who are willing to undertake a program of professional study to become fully qualified as per the criteria set out in this posting. There will also be required in-service for the successful candidate to complete. The assignment within this position in September may not be identical to the assignment in this posted position.

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
? extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
? knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
? Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
? Post-secondary coursework and successful experience in teaching students with social, emotional and behavioural needs
? extensive academic training and post graduate coursework in the following areas: students with special needs; strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum
? demonstrated ability to build strong connections and relationships with students, staff and parents
? demonstrated willingness to participate as an integral member of the School Based Team
? demonstrated success at working with and coordinating SEL programs with the child and youth care worker and/or community partners
? knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of CBIEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student and district personnel
? demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of young adolescent development and enthusiasm for working and fostering a positive relationship with students with multiple challenges
? knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as outlined in the Manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for Special Education Services
? demonstrated ability to use strategies that enable students to self-regulate behaviors
? demonstrated experience and ability in being able to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of Level B Assessments including the WIAT, PPVT, Key Math and TOWL
? demonstrated experience implementing the First Peoples Principles of Learning
? proven ability in designing, modifying and adapting the curriculum to meet the diverse individual needs of students
? demonstrated ability to motivate and provide success for students who experience difficulties with learning and require additional support through student services
? demonstrated ability to liaise with classroom teachers to ensure the goals of IEPs are effectively implemented and evaluated
? demonstrated excellence in the area of interpersonal skills, communication, and collaboration
? demonstrated ability in teaching students how to improve their reading and writing skills in various curricular areas using a variety of strategies and resources
? demonstrated commitment to use technology for teaching and to communicate consistently and effectively with parents and students
? demonstrated commitment to and engagement in lifelong professional and personal learning
