The Principal plays an integral role as part of the District management team and of the school to which they are assigned. The Principal is responsible for the overall supervision and operation of their individual school and also plays an appropriate leadership role in District initiatives.

Expectations and responsibilities of Delta Principals include:

Projecting a clear sense of direction consistent with District Vision 2030

Working to develop a Framework for Enhancing Student Learning based on the needs of the learners.

Participating actively in the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of the instructional program

Demonstrating knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment

Understanding child development as it pertains to learning.

Working with staff to build knowledge and expertise related to assessment strategies.

Establishing a safe, orderly environment that promotes teaching and learning.

Encouraging and providing support for the professional learning of staff and participating in a program of personal and professional learning.

Keeping informed about current research, trends, and practices in education

Acting as a symbol of the school’s culture through articulating and modeling goals and behaviors that signal to others what is of importance and value.

Demonstrating strong human relations and communication skills

Developing positive and supportive relationships within an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.

Fostering supportive attitudes among community members including providing opportunities for members of the community to associate productively with the school’s personnel and programs.

Planning and organizing school operations and routines, supervising a variety of personnel and students, and ensuring the effective management of the school property.

Requirements:

Successful Vice-Principal experience

Master's degree in an area such as Leadership, Curriculum, or Learning

Salary Range: $153,567 - $162,260.
