THE ROLE

At the North Vancouver School District, we offer a variety of options for our Teachers Teaching on Call Teachers. Our ideal candidates have a passion for teaching and inspire learning in all of our students.? We are looking for teachers who are excellent communicators, organizers and collaborators and who make a positive difference in our schools.

Westview Elementary School, Ta na wa Ns7éyxnitm tlá Teltíwet, sits on the traditional and unceded territory of the Skwxwú7mesh Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. Westview's school plan focuses on creating a sense of belonging, enhancing instructional practices and imbedding Indigenous ways on knowing into all aspects of school life. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with K-7 teams to enhance literacy learning, and love of reading throughout the school. Days of work are Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday (full days) and Thursday (partial day).

WHAT WE REQUIRE

Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and demonstrated teaching ability.

Demonstrated ability to design and implement a variety of assessment practices to measure and monitor student progress effectively.

Strategies to identify learning difficulties and implement effective intervention to maximize academic success.

Demonstrated successful experience supporting the success of all learners in an inclusive environment.

Strong organizational skills.

Excellent oral communications, written communication, and group facilitation skills.

Superior work ethic and social emotional competencies, excellent reflective judgment, and commitment to building effective learning communities.

Comprehensive understanding of curriculum.

Confidence and proficiency in using instructional organizers, concepts, and strategies that actively engage all students in learning.

Ability to positively influence instruction, curriculum, assessment, and social-emotional learning practices in a collaborative environment.

Knowledge and understanding of the application of relevant computer technologies to teaching and learning.

Willingness to be involved in professional development, with an ongoing commitment to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to enhance the school as a learning community.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor of Education Degree (Elementary).

Successful experience teaching Library at the Elementary level.

A Diploma in Education or a Masters of Education in Teacher-Librarianship, or the equivalent training and experience.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

As per the Teachers' Collective Agreement

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Possession of a BC Teaching Certificate

Membership in the BC Teacher Regulation Branch.
