INTERMEDIATE TEACHER
Part-time (0.2 FTE) position
Chartwell Elementary School
Effective immediately until June 30, 2025
The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $59,711 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.
Required Qualifications and Experience
A part-time teaching position is available at Chartwell Elementary School teaching Intermediate grade level (0.2 FTE).
The successful applicant will demonstrate the following:
Sound pedagogy, training and experience teaching elementary education at the intermediate level
The ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners
Experience teaching in a multi-aged setting
Proven understanding of the Revised BC Curriculum, in particular the Big Ideas and Core Competencies
An understanding of the First People's Principles as they relate to the curriculum and Canadian history
A wide repertoire of strategies addressing assessment (formative, summative, peer and self)
The ability to create a safe and caring learning environment for students using the principles of social-emotional learning and self-regulation strategies
Proven ability to provide inquiry-based pedagogy
Proficiency and ability to teach French as a second language
The ability to work collaboratively with a team to create a stimulating educational environment
Knowledge and experience using digital tools to enhance student learning such as Google Classroom, Freshgrade (portfolio and reporting), Scratch and others
A willingness to support and enhance a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program at the intermediate level
Knowledge and experience teaching coding and the ADST curriculum
Ability to teach all subject areas including Fine Arts and Physical Education
