The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities. To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $210 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff; which includes, teachers, principals and vice-principals, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.
The Greater Victoria School District is looking to hire On-Call Accounts Clerks to fill temporary assignments that may last from a few days to a few months. The temporary assignments and other vacancies within the School District could ultimately lead to a permanent position.
Under the supervision of the Principal, the Accounts Clerk - Schools is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and transactions, maintaining school bank accounts, monitoring the budget, and processing public and non-public fund purchases and payments at the school level.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Grade 12 or equivalent
Completion of Financial Accounting 1 and Financial Accounting 2 or equivalent
Two (2) years specific financial accounting experience in a large automated financial department
Basic knowledge of fund accounting
Proficient with Excel spreadsheets, database management systems and word processing applications
Short-listed candidates will be required to take the District bookkeeping test
The position falls under the CUPE Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $28.86 per hour plus 13% in lieu of benefits.
