The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities. To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $210 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff; which includes, teachers, administrators, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.
The Greater Victoria School District is looking to hire On-Call School Administrative Assistant IIIs to fill temporary assignments that may last from a few days to a few months. The temporary assignments and other vacancies within the School District could ultimately lead to a permanent position.
Reporting to the Principal, this position oversees the administrative services of the school, including coordinating office procedures, records management and supervising office staff. This position works in an environment of a high volume of work with constant interruptions and changing priorities.
Candidates should have at least two years’ advanced administrative experience and a one year post-secondary Office Administration Certificate, including courses in accounting, supervision, records management and computer skills. Applicants must also have the ability to quickly learn new applications as required and possess a demonstrated level of competence and commitment. Being hired to the spareboard makes you eligible to apply on internal job postings. A clerical test and a bookkeeping test will be conducted as part of the selection process. The position falls under the CUPE Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $32.45 per hour plus 13% in lieu of benefits.
