Description
Our relief staff fill in for our regular employees when they are away. As a relief employee you will have the opportunity to visit many of our schools and district sites, and support the staff and students of School District No. 73. Relief employees are able to post on internal vacancies that come available.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Assists with the development of various social, emotional and curriculum needs.
Plans daily classroom activities and curriculum suitable for ages 0 to 5 years.
Facilitates programs involving art, science, literature, music and physical activities.
Prepares program for healthy snacks include purchase of materials, preparation and clean up.
Prepares and modifies a variety of classroom materials as required.
Prepares Newsletters and communications to parents.
May be necessary to support parents including referrals to appropriate agencies/resources towards successful parenting.
Other assigned job related duties.
ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with the public, students, teachers, Principals and other employees of the Board.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to identify and perform a variety of tasks within the program plan.
Ability to perform clerical tasks of limited scope.
Ability to welcome parents/caregivers and initiate parents/caregivers into the program.
Knowledge of the stages of development with early learners and ability to adjust programs as needed.
Basic Computer Skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
Grade 12 supplemented by a minimum of two (2) year post-secondary diploma in Early Childhood Education.
Licensed Early Childhood Educator Senior Practitioner (IT) with a current license to Practice.
Over 3 months, up to and including one (1) year proven previous work experience involving children (0-5) preferably in an educational setting.
Must have a valid First Aid Certificate and CPR as per ECE License
A valid B.C. Driver’s License.
