Location Address: Hybrid - 40 King Street W 10th Floor, Toronto - 3 days/week (flexible - most come Tues, Wed, Thurs)

Contract Duration: to October 31st - approx. 5 months

Story Behind the Need

Business group: Capital Management - team works on Regulatory Capital requirements for the Bank, by calculating the Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) required for each exposure, such as Retail and Non-Retail loans, commitments, bond, securitization, etc. The team then compares aggregate RWA at total bank level with banks Regulatory Capital. The team is responsible for publishing multiple reports every quarter on capital, coordinating with multiple units within the bank to ensure accurate reporting.

Project: The bank is implementing a few new Regulatory AIRB (Advanced Internal Rating Based Approach) models, and the resource would be responsible for implementation and testing of the results of models in Capital Engine for Capital Reporting. Getting new data, calculating RWA, verifying reconciliations, ensuring everything nis balanced, the rules are correctly applied and UATs are done properly. New development: external and internal auditors need to report to OFSI hence UATs require a new level of review

Responsibilities:

• Provide guidance on project initiatives including business case preparation and developing creative/alternative approaches to problem resolution.

• Develop formal documentation for Business Plan and Requirements document.

• Maintaining a log of all achieved and planned key activities at sufficient detail levels.

• Identify and confirm project leads from all required stakeholders and to ensure responsibilities and deliverables are understood by each.

• Work with Project teams, and stakeholders in Capital Management to prepare appropriate information for dissemination to the Steering Committee.

• Manage project participants and relationships ensuring project teams are cohesive and operating to common objectives and priorities.

• Ensure the documentation and archiving of project activities, deliverables, tools, and findings and for use in future projects.

• Develop the business requirements documents for implementation of new IRB Models results for selected Retail and Non-Retail portfolios. This involves getting agreement on scope of work, documentation of Business Requirements, redesigning automated Reconciliation approaches, obtaining stakeholder sign off, working with team to achieve the results, and then ensuring proper procedure documentation are updated as necessary.

• Responsible for the management and coordination of all activities impacting Capital Management group due to implementation of new IRB models for Small Business and Non-Retail portfolios.

Must Have Skills:

1) 8+ years of combined experience Credit Risk Modeling and/or capital management

2) 1+ year of reconciliation experience

3) 2+ years’ project management experience

4) 7-8 years’ advanced Excel experience

5) 2+ years’ experience with UAT testing

Nice-To-Have Skills:

1) OSFI CAR Guidelines - working knowledge/experience a strong asset

2) Accounting experience

3) Banking experience

4) Business loans, retail loans experience

5) Delivery Manager/Lead experience

6) Experience in IT environment

7) 2+ years’ advanced PowerBI experience

Soft Skills Required:

• Expert team building skills to create and sustain highly motivated groups within diverse and multi-functional reporting units.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to rapidly assess problem situations and creatively develop alternate solutions and approaches necessary to resolve high-level, complex problems.

• Superior oral and written communication skills and proven ability to: make presentations to varied groups; deal with all levels of line management up to the Vice-President; and dealing with vendors/consultants without exceeding authority.

• Advanced management and leadership skills sufficient to lead and motivate the team and excellent skills in relationship and general business management.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in business or technology

CPA/CFA/FRM an asset

Best VS. Average Candidate:

Ideal candidate is practical and can understand materiality of the total bank and can prioritize what is most important, has strong risk and capital management experience, has experience with OSFI CAR Guidelines (strong asset with Pillar 1 and 3, Chapter 5 AIRB); good understanding of risk and rewards; exceptional soft skills; if has had exposure to loans, accounting would be a plus
