Our client is looking for an Intermediate SQL Server Database Administrator to support performance optimization and long-term strategic planning for a software development company.


Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior to Intermediate Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. In this role, you will focus on the administration of SQL Server databases, including routine administrative tasks, writing and optimizing SQL queries, and managing storage.


Must Have's:

  • 3+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and basic DBA tasks such as backups, restores, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL Server, including query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery strategies
  • Understanding of SQL Server storage management and capacity planning
  • Knowledge of database security practices and user management

Responsibilities:

  • SQL Server Database Administration:
  • Assist in the administration, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server databases.
  • Perform regular database backups, restores, and maintenance tasks to ensure data availability and integrity.
  • Monitor and optimize SQL Server database performance, ensuring efficient use of system resources.
  • SQL Query Management:
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for various purposes, including reporting, data extraction, and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor long-running queries and resolve performance issues to ensure the system runs efficiently.
  • Storage Management:
  • Assist with managing and optimizing storage for SQL Server databases.
  • Monitor disk space, data growth, and implement storage strategies to ensure database performance and scalability.
  • Routine Maintenance & Updates:
  • Participate in regular database health checks, patching, and updates to keep SQL Server databases running smoothly and securely.
  • Manage database logs and transaction logs to maintain performance and reliability.
  • Documentation & SOPs:
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for database administration tasks.
  • Collaboration & Support:
  • Work closely with development teams to provide support for SQL Server-related issues and database deployments.
  • Assist in troubleshooting database issues, working with other teams to resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Capacity Planning & Monitoring:
  • Assist in capacity planning for SQL Server databases, ensuring that resources are effectively allocated for growing data needs.
  • Regularly monitor database performance metrics and adjust resources to prevent any disruptions in service.

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
