Junior Application Support Analyst with DevOps, UNIX (AIX), MS Windows experience to resolve operations issues with one of our major banking clients - 36049
Location Address: Hybrid (twice a week) - Toronto
Contract Duration: 1 year (Possibility of Extension)
Schedule Hours: standard 37.5hrs/week, (might have to support on weekends or nights as required)
Story Behind the Need
Business group:
- GFT - Operations and Support
- Project: Production operation for the bank, resolve issue during operations.
Typical Day in Role:
- The DevOps Specialist contributes to the ongoing support and operations for applications within Global Finance and Risk Technologies.
- The incumbent will handle Application Production Operations.
- The incumbent will be a key contact with application development teams to ensure Production operations are automated and efficient.
- Support the Operations of critical Risk Applications such as Bancware (Asset Liability Management -ALM), RCRR, iFRS9, and others.
- Assessments into Application Operations Maturity and provide automation improvement recommendations to development teams
- Executing/monitoring Monthly/Quarterly Operations (shift hours will be required)
- Ensuring ongoing communication of Operation status, completing regular status reports and escalating issues, as required.
- As a part of a support team provide excellent services and become a trusted advisor to customers via proactive and enthusiastic social engagement, technical depth and highest level of customer satisfaction in every interaction.
- Recommend and implement improvements, document knowledge in the form of incident notes and technical articles through team's knowledge base and Bank-wide social media. Prepare, coordinate and lead technical trainings for end users and team members.
- Work effectively in a team environment by :
- Collaborating with other team members, internal customers and other Scotiabank teams
- Acquiring knowledge from peers as from self-learning.
- Coaching other team/department members on the areas of expertise
- Actively participate in team's huddles
Must Have Skills:
- 3-4 years of experience in DevOps (or) Strong system administration skills for UNIX (AIX), MS Windows
- Experience in using Tidal as a sequencer for operations and big data & hadoop
- Database query execution - MS SQL, Oracle and MS Active directory
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- strong system programming skills, Autosys, Talent and scripting.
- Ability to use modern project and issue management tools (Atlassian Confluence and ServiceNow ) for tracking own tasks and creating documentation/wiki
- Knowledge of Datastage, MS .NET or .NET Core framework and experience with MS TFS collaboration platform as an end user and/or administrator
Soft Skills Required:
- Be able to set ambitious objectives for self and the team. Being curious, constantly learning about new trends in IT enterprise technologies especially in the area of AI and DevOps and share the knowledge with end users and team members
- Ability to promote team's services through various internal communication channels - social media (such as Facebook Workplace) or company internal websites.
Education:
- bachelor’s degree
