Description
Our client is seeking a SR Data & Analytics Specialist with Power BI and Python with a focus on transforming data into meaningful insights for the business.
Job Overview:
The Data & Analytics Specialist will transform data into actionable insights to support strategic decision-making and enhance business outcomes. The role requires strong technical expertise in BI tools, data warehousing, and statistical analysis to deliver compelling data visualizations and reports. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide data-driven recommendations that align with organizational goals.
Location: Edmonton or Calgary Hybrid model
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience designing and managing business intelligence, analytics, and data visualization solutions in an Agile environment.
- Expertise in Power BI and data modeling
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and machine learning.
- Familiarity with data integration techniques and ETL processes.
- Microsoft PL-300 or equivalent certification.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or Power BI Developer Associate.
- Experience with Azure data platform services (Azure Synapse, Azure SQL Database, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform services.
- Experience modeling AI and ML algorithms in R/Python.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct advanced analytics, including predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and machine learning, to drive actionable insights.
- Design and implement analytical models to address business challenges and forecast trends.
- Integrate data from multiple sources (databases, spreadsheets, cloud services) into Power BI datasets, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Perform data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation to ensure data integrity and handle outliers and missing values.
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and translate requirements into meaningful data models and visualizations.
- Communicate findings and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to enable informed decision-making.
- Develop detailed reports and dashboards using Power BI to present intuitive data insights.
- Create and optimize queries, transformations, and calculations using Power Query M and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
- Document data sources, methodologies, and analysis processes for transparency and reproducibility.
- Implement security measures within Power BI to ensure sensitive data is protected.
- Monitor and optimize Power BI performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements in collaboration with data engineers.
