Sr. Cloud Platform Engineer (AWS/Azure, Terraform, CI/CD) to support core Cloud Services initiatives for our banking client

Location: Hybrid (2x/month preferred) - Downtown Toronto

Duration: 6-month contract with strong potential for 12-month extension

Our banking client is urgently seeking multiple Sr. Cloud Platform Engineers with 5-7+ years of hands-on cloud development and DevOps experience to join their Cloud DevOps Automation Team. This group is responsible for building, deploying, and maintaining the core cloud platform that powers strategic banking innovations. The ideal candidate is results-driven, proactive, and capable of delivering independently with limited oversight.

This role is focused on designing and evolving highly secure, scalable hybrid cloud environments using modern automation tools and practices. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, enterprise environment and collaborating across technology and business teams.

• 5-7+ years of experience in cloud development and DevOps engineering
• Strong hands-on skills with the following tools and technologies:
• Programming: TypeScript, NodeJS, Python
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation
• CI/CD Pipelines: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins
• Containers & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes (EKS/AKS), ECS, ACI
• Policy as Code: Open Policy Agent (OPA)
• OS & Systems: Linux-based systems
• Experience with the following AWS services:
• Lambda (serverless), ECS, API Gateway, Step Functions, Cognito, IAM, DynamoDB
• Experience with Azure services:
• WebApps, AKS, Key Vault, SQL MI, Azure DevOps
• Ability to design and implement hybrid cloud architecture and secure connectivity
• Deep understanding of security, scalability, and compliance in cloud platforms
• Strong documentation and architectural planning skills

• AWS and/or Azure certifications
• Experience working within Agile frameworks
• Previous financial services or banking experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate the bank’s Cloud Platform and shared services
• Build secure and scalable hybrid cloud environments, focusing on performance and resilience
• Create automation patterns for provisioning, deployment, and monitoring
• Lead the development and maintenance of IaC modules
• Ensure compliance with internal security and regulatory standards
• Support small-scale projects independently, collaborating with both Cloud Services and CIO teams
• Continuously improve cloud platform capabilities, documentation, and performance

• Round 1: Hardcore technical round with live coding (60 mins) - Virtual (on camera and screen sharing)
• Round 2: Technical round with senior team member, may include additional coding (30-45 mins) - Virtual
• Round 3: Final interview with Director (30-45 mins) - In-person in DT Toronto
