Description
Duration: 2 years (until Dec 2026)
Location: Toronto (Hybrid 2x/week)
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the lifecycle of payment equipment, from procurement, integration, deployment to operation.
- Oversee the devices integration of including vending machines, tablets, mobile devices, fare collection equipment and their supporting componentry (ie, PIN PADs, card readers, printers, network equipment, cash collection and recycling, power management).
- Design and oversee the integration of various system components, including third party applications, hardware components, networks, databases, APIs, and services.
- Continuously assess the effectiveness of the solution architecture and recommend enhancements & optimizations. Stay up to date with industry best practices and evolving technologies, services & trends to drive innovation and improve the overall quality of the solution.
- Assess hardware certifications required for equipment deployed in a variety of environments, including environmental certifications, dust and water ingress, impact resistance, rail certifications, etc.
Must haves:
- 10+ years as a solution architect in the Financial Services/Payments industry
- Strong knowledge of communication protocols used in payment systems (e.g., NFC, EMV).
- Experience in fare collection equipment, ticket vending machine, or mobile devices.
- Experience with hardware certifications against environmental factors (heat, cold, rain, dust) and impact resistance.
- Relevant architecture certifications, such as TOGAF/Zachman/Azure etc.
Nice to haves:
- Strong understanding of hardware solutions such a vending machines, ATMs, tablet and mobile based solutions and integration like fare API would be an asset.
- Knowledge of Payment technology on fare equipment is an asset.
