1.0 FTE Permanent position
The
Maintenance Services Department of the Simcoe County District School Board is
seeking qualified applicants for the position of BAS/Plumber (Chemical Treatment). Reporting
to the Supervisor of Mechanical Systems, while working in a multi-disciplinary
team this position provides emergency, preventive, and planned maintenance services
to plant heating and cooling systems. This
position focuses particularly on chemical treatment of all closed loop heating
systems, chilled water systems and
cooling towers and associated equipment throughout Simcoe County District
School Board. Responsibilities include
repairing of mechanical pipe leaks, pumps, and associated equipment for heating
and cooling systems.

Qualifications
and Skills Required
1
A current Certificate of Qualification as
a licensed Plumber/Steamfitter is required.
2
Applicants with that also posses as
Certificate of Qualification as a Gas Fitter (G1) would be considered an asset.
3
Knowledge in the components and
treatment of closed water system loops.
4 Knowledge of the design and
operation of open water treatment systems including cooling towers, fluid
coolers and evaporative coolers.
5
Knowledge of water softener
systems including setup and operation.
6
Ability to read, write and interpret
electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
7
Experience with troubleshooting, service
and repair of hydronic heating systems, HVAC and refrigeration, plumbing, gas, and
oil burners, as well as associated auxiliary equipment and controls.
8 Knowledge in the components and control
sequences of boilers, chillers, air handlers, hot water heating system
components, DDC controls.
9 Computer literacy and ability to work
effectively with a variety of computer software programs, such as MS Word,
Excel, Outlook, and the Facility Services Computerized Maintenance Work order
system.
10 Excellent
interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
11 Ability to work as
a team member in a multi-disciplined team and with staff, students, and general
public.
12 The successful
incumbent will be required to be on-call after hours on a rotational basis
which will classify this position as Plumber (BAS rate).
13 A valid Ontario
Drivers Licence is a requirement and proof thereof will be requested on hiring.

The duties,
responsibilities and requirements for this position are not limited to the
above but may also include all of those in the Job Description for Plumber. This
position will be required
to be on-call and/or work after hours where required on a rotational basis to
assist with operational needs. Compensation will be provided for on-call work
in accordance with the CUPE collective agreement. SCDSB Training to be
completed as required.
