The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) invites applications for the position of Superintendent of Education K-12.

Due to current and projected retirements, the SCDSB is seeking exceptional leaders to join the senior administrative team.

Reporting to the Director of Education, you will be responsible for the supervision of student achievement and day-to-day operations in an assigned area of schools. Guided by the SCDSB Strategic Priorities (2022-2027) in the areas of Well-being, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Community and Excellence in Teaching and Learning, successful candidates will be responsible for the supervision of quality instruction and program delivery, performance reviews of principals, staff development, and monitoring of school and program improvement initiatives among their duties. In addition to leading an area with both secondary and elementary schools, successful candidates will also have additional leadership responsibilities for system portfolios.

The successful candidate for Superintendent of Education K-12 will hold a Supervisory Officer Certificate, as specified by the Ministry of Education, or currently working towards the completion of this certificate. Candidates will have a broad range of abilities and a deep understanding of the current state of education in the Province of Ontario. Candidates must be team players and excellent communicators with all levels of stakeholders within the education system. Candidates must have an understanding of elementary and secondary curriculum and programming, as well as proven leadership in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Key to success in this role will be the ability to develop strong relationships with a variety of communities. Your experience will provide outstanding evidence of school and system-level leadership practices as identified in the Ontario Leadership Framework. Extensive and successful experience in elementary and/or secondary program delivery is essential in this role.

In addition, a pool of successful candidates from this application process will be created for future Superintendent of Education or Assistant Superintendent positions.

Duties will commence as early as required.
