South East Cornerstone Public School Division invites applications for a Student Services Counsellor. Reporting to the Coordinator of Student Services, this position will be responsible for providing services for McNaughton High School and Rocanville School, located in Moosomin and Rocanville, SK respectively.

Participate as an active member of the Student Services team in carrying out the vision and mission.

Assess students within their educational setting to evaluate strength, needs and areas for intervention.

Provide ongoing assessment and intervention through purposeful therapeutic activities that optimize the student's ability to function in education, home and community environments.

Provide written report to parents and school division personnel for each student assessed and/or receiving services as required.

Discharge students from the active caseload when appropriate, in consultation with parents and school personnel.

Provide classroom and group supports as needed.

Communicates with parents, administrators, learning support teachers and teachers in post-assessment conferences regarding assessments and recommendations for programming.

Participate in IIP and school-based team meetings as required.

Assist with personal well-being and social skills goals for IIP and work directly with students to implement goals.

Consult with Student Services consultant and/or school based personnel to provide appropriate follow up on students.

Provides referrals and recommendations to outside agencies and Student Services Consultants as needed.

Provide workshops and in-service in the areas of expertise to teachers, educational assistants and others when requested.

Work collaboratively with Student Services team to provide comprehensive services to students. This may involve meeting with parents/guardians and/or other service providers to share information when appropriate and permissable to do so.

Apply ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school-based student services observing relevant laws, regulations and guidelines.

Submit an annual report to the Student Services Coordinator and provide documentation and reports as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Social Work degree or equivalent degree.

A minimum of 3 years experience as a social worker or equivalent.

2 or more years training and experience with child, youth and family counselling.

A current and valid Driver's License.

Commitment to the ideals of public education as well as the mission, vision and guiding principles of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division.

Salary & Benefits:

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated CUPE Collective Agreement as listed on our website www.secpsd.ca. The starting wage for this position is currently $67,463/annually along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
