Starting Date: August 27, 2025

Salary: $72,969 to $118,916

*The annual salary range will be updated with the 2025/26 salary grid.



St. George’s School is seeking an experienced and energized Primary Resource Teacher (Kindergarten to Grade 3). This role requires an innovative teaching professional to support a collaborative learning environment using engaging and meaningful pedagogy focused on student learning and growth.

The Resource Teacher works collaboratively with teachers, parents, administration, and private practitioners to meet the specific needs of students in a number of ways. This includes diagnostic and academic assessment for the purpose of remedial intervention and the differentiation of instruction in the classroom; interpretation of assessment results and the development of support plans; screening measures and referrals to outside professionals (e.g. vision/hearing, speech/language, occupational therapy, psychologists, etc.); individual, small group or in-class support; parent education and resources for classroom teachers (e.g. whole class lessons to demonstrate learning strategies that best meet the requirements of the students).

Faculty are required to support the school co-curricular program for two of the three terms. The co-curricular program includes, Athletic, Academic, Artistic, or Community commitments and is offered a minimum once a week, per term.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Serves as a Resource Teacher for all primary grades (K-3); working in unison with the Primary faculty to collaboratively plan, instruct and remediate.
  • Supports and delivers the curriculum through the classroom setting, small group or pull out.
  • Works with classroom teachers to help differentiate lessons that meet the learning requirements of the student(s).
  • Develops student specific plans and facilitates meetings with staff, parents, and psychologists throughout the year.
  • Promotes the use and development of assistive technology for students with physical/learning challenges.
  • Encourages reading and phonics skills to emergent readers.
  • Completes ministry documents for funding and communicates with ministry officials to ensure that proper funding protocol is followed.
  • Communicates the objectives of the Resource Program to education stakeholders (administrators, teachers, students, parents, and other community interests).
  • Coordinates and supports special events relating to resources, including parent and student presentations and workshops, special interest days, etc.
  • Promotes an understanding and appreciation of diverse populations and cultures.
  • Supports, encourages and promotes overall involvement in school’s co-curricular programs (games, clubs, performing arts and service).



Qualifications will include:

  • Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology/Special Education preferred and experience with providing Orton Gillingham tutoring is an asset. Or, willing to acquire the certification.
  • Meet the certification requirements to teach in British Columbia (B.A. and B.Ed.).
  • Experience in presenting cases to the School Based Team (SBT).
  • Ability to administer diagnostic and achievement tests considered an asset.
  • The ability to build rapport, trust and relationships with students, key stakeholders and family members.
  • Connects easily with others, balances firmness and fairness in problem resolution, and demonstrates an active interest in students and parents’ application process and interest in the school.
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills, and has an innovative, flexible and collaborative working style.
  • Possess strong communication skills and a strong work ethic and is committed to professional growth.
  • Ability to employ an eclectic and balanced approach to assisting students and their parents.
  • Thorough knowledge of modern practices in learning disability interventions.
