Assistant Principal Required

for New Myrnam School

New Myrnam School requires a temporary Assistant Principal for the 2025-2026 school year.

New Myrnam School, located in Myrnam, Alberta is an ECS - Grade 12 school with approximately 11 FTE teachers and 12 support staff serving 110 students. Also, under the Myrnam umbrella is the Myrnam Outreach and Homeschool Centre with approximately 95 students.

Applications are welcomed from experienced educators or persons with proven educational leadership. An understanding of project-based learning and a demonstrated use of restorative practices would be considered an asset.

As an accomplished teacher, proven leader and lifelong learner, the successful candidate will have a proven leadership track record that demonstrates:

• Strong collaborative educational leadership skills and a commitment to

supporting the school principal

• Effective teaching and/or lead teacher experience

• Strong interpersonal relationship and communication skills

• Knowledge of curriculum and proven instructional leadership qualities

• A student first focus and a belief that all children can learn and succeed

• Effective school management

• Positive and integrative behavior management skills

• Experience and/or training in cross cultural education

• Desire to get involved in participatory community education strategies

The specific teaching assignment of the successful candidate will depend on the skills and experience of the individual. The successful candidate must hold or qualify for an Alberta Teaching Certificate and a Leadership Quality Standard Certificate.

About St. Paul Education

Geographically and demographically, St. Paul Education covers a large rural/urban area in Northeast Alberta. We serve the communities of St. Paul, Elk Point, Two Hills, Mallaig, Ashmont, Myrnam and Heinsburg. We also serve students from Saddle Lake Cree Nation, Whitefish Lake First Nation #128, Frog Lake First Nation and Kehewin Cree Nation.

In 1995, parent and community stakeholders initiated the amalgamation of five school boards into what is now St. Paul Education. In doing so, St. Paul Education became the only school division in Alberta to operate both separate and public schools under one board. The Division's religious, linguistic and cultural diversity is a source of strength and pride.

We serve 3640 students (K-12), including Catholic, First Nation, Mennonite, Hutterite and Home Schooling learners. Our 19 definable school sites are staffed by approximately 232 FTE teaching staff and 293 support staff.
