Temporary After School Program Manager (.5 FTE)

Start Date: As Soon As Possible to June 25, 2025

Location: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, Manitouwadge

Hours of Work: 17.5 hours/week (Monday to Friday - 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm). Extended Day program hours of operation on instructional days from September to June. This will also include March Break, Professional Development Days and selected non-statutory days during Christmas Break.

Salary: $35,000 with competitive pension and benefits

Position Summary:

The Superior North Catholic District School Board is seeking applications for the position of After School Program (ASP) Manager. Reporting to the Early Years Superintendent, this position will support children and the ASP Worker in the After School Program.

General Description of Duties:

Reporting to the Early Years Superintendent, the successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operation of the After School Program at Our Lady of Lourdes School. The ASP Manager will directly supervise staff in the board operated Extended Day program at Our Lady of Lourdes School to ensure high quality, inclusive care for children, ranging in age from junior kindergarten to grade 6, that adheres to the Education Act, the Early Childhood Educators Act, Family Services Act, Ministry Guidelines and Superior North Catholic District School Board policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Project commitments compatible with the organization (service, integrity, respect, innovation, and collaboration);

Take individualized action to maintain a current understanding of policies, procedures, legislation, and changes to professional practice as they relate to the field of Early Childhood Education;

Create effective schedules and programming for the After School Program.

Identify strategies for a safe environment for both students and staff in extended day programs;

Supervise and mentor staff, through daily face-face interaction and providing independent training if required;

Support After School Worker to navigate learning and understanding of the requirements of CCEYA (Child Care and Early Years Act);

Assist, model and deliver instruction, program development and delivery strategies for the extended-day programs;

Review and develop program to meet the varying needs of the school community being served;

Ensure adequate support is in place to support all children and families (Safety, Allergy, Medical or Support Plans);

Communicate professionally and effectively when engaging with school personnel, After School Worker, students registered in the program, and parents/guardians;

Address parent concerns and resolve conflicts regarding After School issues and billing; and

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

An Early Childhood Education Degree or major in a similar subject area is preferred. Consideration will be given to those with an Early Childhood Education diploma

Be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators;

Have a minimum of 3 years experience working in an early years or school setting;

Must possess a valid standard First Aid and CPR certificate;

Experience in planning and implementing age-appropriate programs;

Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal);

Demonstrate knowledge of SNCDSB policies and procedures, applicable legislation (Occupational Health and Safety Act, Family Services Act and Privacy Legislation);

Demonstrate exemplary knowledge of play-based learning as defined in the Kindergarten program (2016), How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years and the Ministry Guidelines for Before and After School programs for Extended Day programs; and

Communication and human relations skills to advise and supervise staff, provide confidential information to support parents, and participate as an effective team member.
