This position is able to be hired in our Austin or Sunnyvale office locations.

We Are:

At Synopsys, we drive the innovations that shape the way we live and connect. Our technology is central to the Era of Pervasive Intelligence, from self-driving cars to learning machines. We lead in chip design, system verification, and IP integration, empowering the creation of high-performance silicon chips and software content. Join us to transform the future through continuous technological innovation.

You Are:

  • You are a seasoned SoC Power Engineer with a passion for innovation and a deep understanding of the role and impact at different system components (e.g., SoC die, package, PCB).

  • You thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to tackle complex technical challenges. With a can-do attitude and a knack for quick learning, you excel in both independent and team settings.

  • Your strong communication skills enable you to convey intricate technical details clearly and effectively.

  • You are proficient in SoC power modeling and analysis, and aware of SoC model usage and challenges at system level. You are very familiar and possess hands-on experience with SPICE and Ansys PI modeling tools (Totem/Redhawk CMM/APL/CPM/CTM).

  • You leverage your knowledge/experience as a SoC Power Eng. to model and verify different interfaces such as SERDES (e.g., PCIe, Enterprise), Memory (e.g., DDR, HBM) and die-to-die (e.g., UCIE), making you a valuable asset. You are comfortable with both Windows and Linux operating systems and have a working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and TCL.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Defining SoC IP/PHY Power modeling methodology using Synopsys tools and Ansys Totem / Redhawk, collaborating with internal teams to address challenges (e.g., methodology, flow and dependencies) and drive adoption.
  • Utilizing your expertise to explore power integrity solutions through time/frequency-domain analysis and improve Synopsys IP/PHY products power design, analysis (e.g., EMIR) and deliverables and collaterals to customers.
  • Supporting customers by reviewing their system design (e.g., SoC die, pkg, PCB), addressing power related questions, offering system implementation guidance, and improving associated documentation.
  • Performing system level power analysis and lab measurements for the latest PHYs and technologies (e.g., Ethernet, PCIE, DDR), and other high-speed protocols to validate the power models in a range of environments.
  • Contributing to the development of advanced packaging technologies and high-speed interface protocols as a Power Eng. Expert.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation in Power Modeling/Analysis methodologies and tools.

The Impact You Will Have:

  • Driving innovation in SoC & IP/PHY power distribution modeling, analysis, and design improvement.
  • Enhancing customer satisfaction by providing expert power modeling/analysis support and guidance.
  • Facilitating the development of cutting-edge IP/PHY products and methodologies.
  • Improving the performance and reliability of leading-edge protocols.
  • Advancing Synopsys' position as a leader in the semiconductor industry.
  • Contributing to the success of diverse, high-impact projects across the company.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in PI modeling and analysis.
  • Proficiency in power distribution network modeling, and power time/frequency-domain analysis.
  • Experience with SPICE simulations, Ansys Totem/Redhawk CMM/APL/CPM/CTM tools and modeling flow.
  • Exposure to a combination of SERDES/DDR/UCIE interfaces and packaging technologies is a bonus.
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and TCL.
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux operating systems.

Who You Are:

You are a collaborative and innovative thinker with a strong technical background. You have excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail. Your ability to work effectively in a team, combined with your strong communication skills, makes you an ideal candidate for this role. You are proactive, adaptable, and always eager to learn and grow in your field.

The Team You’ll Be A Part Of:

You will be joining a group of highly skilled, supportive, and globally spread-out teams. Our team is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology, defining Signal and Power Integrity related methodologies, and delivering innovative solutions to our customers. Together, we strive to achieve excellence in everything we do, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Rewards and Benefits:

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
