Position Overview:
Department Leads (DLs) support the operations of merchandising departments. DLs are typically assigned to a specific department based on seasonality and needs of the business (eg. D28 during spring and early summer). DLs work with the Assistant Store Manager and Department Supervisor to provide a better associate experience and ensure outstanding service to customers. DLs are responsible for helping customers, in-aisle tasking and recovery activities, and assisting with associate support, training, and task delegation, as directed by the DS and ASM. DLs should be lift equipment certified and operate equipment such as forklifts and order pickers. DLs are responsible for providing a safe working and shopping environment by following all safety policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver Excellent Customer Service
Greet, engage and thank (GET) all customers
Connect associates to customers and provide on the job feedback to associate about customer service
Be a product knowledge expert, instill trust, and build relationships with customers
Walk department for holes and pack down visual outs; request on-hand adjustments as needed
Resolve customer complaints or involve the appropriate manager to ensure customer satisfaction
Drives Sales
Drive event execution, department standards, on-shelf availability, and store appearance standards
Work with leadership team to perform higher level tasking (i.e., ordering, vendor management, SmartList tasks, creating watering schedules, receiving outdoor trucks)
Partner with leaders to ensure proper unloading, packout and pack up of product with the use of lift equipment such as forklifts
Partner with leaders to delegate SmartList tasking
Communicate with MET supervisor and vendor representatives about upcoming events, projects, and opportunities
Ensure high velocity articles are well organized and packed down
Support a positive and productive work environment
In partnership with DS, assist with assigning work to associates
Work with managers and DS to complete all activities as assigned
In partnership with DS assist with associate training
Maintains Safety and Security
Adhere to major and minor work rule policies. Follow all Safety and Hazmat procedures, Safety Takes Everyone guidelines, Standards of Performance, Standard Operating Procedures and Merchandise Protection Standards appropriately
Maintain a safe working environment and a clean and organized work area
Report when repairs need to be made to equipment
Immediately report and correct any unsafe situations

1 year Retail or Trade experience an asset
