Position Overview: Responsible for sales/margin/inventory and meeting strategic objectives for a class/subclass of merchandise as part of a merchant team. This includes developing and maintaining vendor relationships, developing product line strategies, and managing financial results. The Associate Merchant will make buying decisions for the assigned category and negotiate terms with suppliers. Working closely with cross functional team members, to develop and execute in-store strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Relationship Management (20%):
Influencing the supplier management strategy to support overall department strategy and works to improve all aspects of supplier relationships.
May serve as a key contributor on various other key projects.
Financial Planning & Management (20%):
implementing the financial strategy/cost structure for a category and sets pricing.
May set pricing and strategy for class/subclass.
Merchandising Execution (20%):
developing merchandising strategy to understand key business drivers (e.g., historical performance, industry/competitive landscape, consumer segmentation).
May serve as a key contributor on various key projects within a business function.
Assortment Selection (20%):
executing the business review of category.
Data Management (20%):
Vendor Onboarding including new vendor set up (SBA), article onboarding (AIM) and article maintenance (AMP)
Coordinating with Channel Management to onboard product
Manage data input in SAP and other data systems as needed

Certifications:
Relevant certifications in merchandising or supply chain management (preferred)
Other Requirements/Assets:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience using Excel
Relevant paint industry experience, consumer or pro would be an asset
