Lake Babine Nation Schools is accepting applications for the position of Principal (K-7) and Intermediate Teacher (4-7) at the Witat Ft. Babine Elementary School . Under the collaborative direction and mentoring support of the Interschool Principal and Director of Education, the Witat Principal Teacher is the primary administrative leader of and responsible for the day to day operations of the school, for providing educational leadership that continuously improves student learning outcomes, for supporting all staff members training and schedules, and for supporting all students, parents, families and community in building an inclusive place of learning that maintains high levels of learning and supports Nedut'en language and culture each day. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic, inspiring leader who values hard work, honesty and open-collaboration in developing a successful and joyous place of learning. A deep awareness of and appreciation for the role of Nedut'en Language and Culture in developing a positive school culture supports the instructional coaching, professional development and overall classroom team leadership sought for in this dynamic key position. Additionally, the Witat Principal Teacher will be responsible for the daily preparation, planning, instruction and assessment fo learning for the very small intermediate Grade 4-8 classroom (approximately 8 students).
Responsible for:
Instructional Leadership of all staff (1 Primary Teacher and 1 Language Teacher/EA)
Directing and Scheduling custodian
Classroom Instructional, Grade 4-8
School to Community Communication including mission, vision, communication, engagement, media and school culture.
LBN Language and Culture Program, incidental supports, proposals, revitalization supports, immersion support
Be guided by First Nations Principles of Learning, and use the First Nations Principals and First Nations Teachers and First Nations EA Standards in all work.
Purchasing supplies (required drivers license and working vehicle mandatory).
BC TQS Category 5, Bachelor of Education, Masters in Progress or planned
BC CRC
Experience:
Minimal 5 years teaching in an Elementary classroom
Minimum 3 years developing and supporting practical First Nations language, Culture, Curriculum Development and asset
Proven relationship building and instructional coaching experience
