Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Journeyman Electrician to join the Plant Maintenance team at Vancouver General Hospital. Apply today to join our team!


As an Electrician with VCH you will:

  • Perform skilled electrical work in the installation, testing, repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment, microprocessor based systems, controls, circuitry and components, including high voltage equipment of up to 12000 volts, in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code and the Canadian Standards Association standards using tools such as testing meters, conduit benders, drills, saws, soldering irons and a variety of hand tools such as screwdrivers and pliers.
  • Install, program, repair and maintain a variety of programmable logic controllers such as the Allen Bradley SLC 500, the GE Fanuc/Cimplicity and Modicon systems.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 10 plus two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Electrician recognized by the Province of B.C.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
